A fun and interactive way to engage with young girls and smash the boundaries – welcome to the Inner East Girls Woolworths Cricket Blast Carnival.

The carnival was developed to increase young girls participation in cricket and the key takeaways were:

•  Carnival atmosphere for girls with multiple games at one time encouraged higher participation;
• Easy for clubs as they only have one week to host games;
•  Inter club competition allowed the girls start getting used to competitive cricket;
• Smaller pitches and soft ball encouraged better bowling and batting;
• Skill sessions for girls helped in improving their batting and bowling.
